Benefits
Why crew and training in Oceanaut
Warned before expiry
Choose 30, 45 or 60 days, or your own number, and Oceanaut warns before each certificate or training expires.
One record per person
Certificates, training, sea time and the drills they attended, together.
Your own courses
Write courses and quizzes for your crews, and track who has completed them.
How it works
Crew and training in Oceanaut
Crew and training keeps what you need to know about each person in one place. Expiry alerts run on their own, sea time builds up from the voyages people sail, and the courses you write in Oceanaut add their certificates to the same record.
01
Certificates with expiry alerts
Record each certificate with who issued it, its dates and a copy of the document. Pick when to be warned: 30, 45 or 60 days before expiry, or a custom number. Vessel certificates work the same way, with a named person responsible.
- Crew and vessel certificates
- Alerts at 30, 45, 60 or custom days
- Upload the certificate
02
Training, sea time and drills per person
Log training with who ran it, where and when it expires. Sea time builds from voyages, with total time and role. The drills each person attended are listed alongside.
- Training tracker
- Sea time from voyages
- Drills attended
03
Courses and quizzes
Write courses with lessons, images, video and documents. Assign them as mandatory or optional, track progress, and issue a certificate when the quiz is passed. A training matrix maps courses to roles.
- Your own lessons and quizzes
- Mandatory and optional courses
- Certificate on completion
- Training matrix by role
04
Performance evaluations
Assign evaluation forms by role on a schedule, from weekly to yearly, and set goals that people and managers can comment on.
- Evaluations by role
- Weekly to yearly schedules
- Goals with comments
Questions about crew and training
When are expiry alerts sent?
You choose per record: 30, 45 or 60 days before expiry, or a custom number of days, with a second notice when it has expired.
Where does sea time come from?
From the voyages recorded in Oceanaut, with each person's start and end times and role on board.
Can an inspector see crew certificates?
Yes. In a Remote Inspections invitation you choose which crew to share, and the surveyor sees their certificates, training, sea time and drills.
